Webinar Overview:

Are you coding as a Task or coding as a Role?

This is the first of seven Webinars that Instruct-online and Speaker - Glenn Krauss are offering which will provide Clinical Medicine Instruction outlining common diseases within each group and complement/supplement with case studies. Coders in general today possess basic knowledge of clinical medicine that has been acquired on the job and as part of their formalized training in the area of coding if they were fortunate enough to undergo instructional training at coding classes. Medical records coding has changed dramatically within the last few years to the point extensive clinical knowledge is essential in order to accurately and completely assign all diagnoses for inpatient encounters. Knowledge of disease processes and the relationship between each are essential as part of the transition from coding as a task to coding as a role.

Coding as a role requires the coder to possess and demonstrate an advanced level of clinical knowledge and acumen than was previously required to competently and accurately assign medical record ICD-9 codes and DRGs. This heightened level of clinical knowledge and skill set includes a broad based understanding of common disease processes, inter-relationships between these different disease processes, various treatment modalities of these disease processes, and finally atypical presentations of disease processes.

Take your current knowledge of clinical medicine to the next level by attending all or any one of the seven Clinical Medicine Instructional Webinars sponsored by Instruct-Online. Each Webinar will be geared towards providing clinical instruction and discussion on a wide array of disease processes organized in a similar fashion as the disease processes by chapter in the ICD-9 book. There will be ample time devoted for the participants to have their questions answered at the end of each Webinar.
